Let them wear puffers

Earlier this summer we gave you all a small taste of Moncler Gamme Rouge FW 09, the collection of puffers inspired by Tsarist Russia. Since fall is drawing ever near, and before you know it you’ll be ready to pull on something both stylish and warm, we’ve decided to give you a look at the entire line, which is currently available. Until I laid eyes on these amazingly tailored, expertly styled jackets, I must admit that the word puffer always brought to mind the worst images you could imagine. Moncler’s Gamme Rouge is light years away from the Michelin Man puffers that were literally big in the 90s and accessorized with a pair of fresh Timberlands. These are Marie Antoinette’s puffers and most of them would be more at home with a pair of chandelier earrings and a fierce pair of Louboutin’s than a pair of Timberlands and doorknockers. Although a few of the styles seem to be more about fashion as art than function, I have to say that Moncler’s creative director Gaimbatista Valli has completely changed my mind on what a puffer is and can be.
